Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father has a right side abdominal bulge for 4 months now. Every test and doctor cannot find out what the cause is. He cannot eat much, is in pain, his liver and organs are supposedly fine. The doctor said it was inflammation and gave him pills for it and that did not do anything. Alittle history on him. He is diabetic and got right on the right side of neck last year which spiked his sugar to 581 in hospital. It has since been around 150-200 which is good for him. His average before that was around 300 and some change. He has regained movement in his right arm but has suffered some nerve damage.
Hi. Thanks for an elucidate history. The patient is diabetic and was uncontrolled due to an abscess in the neck, with the neurological problem in the same side upper limb indicating a damage of the cervical spine most probably by Tuberculosis. The same abscess can have an extension to the right side of the abdomen, that is the reason to be unable to find out what it is .
I would advise an MRI of the neck and the bulge on the right side of the abdomen. Aspiration or FNAC and tests for tuberculosis like Quantiferon Gold tests will help. I would give empirical Ant-tubercular treatment in such a case.
