What Causes Right Sided Flank Pain?

have had pain in right back flank pain for 7 weeks. had CT scan, cystoscopy, ultrasound, urinalysis and culture, urodynamic study....all negative for kidney stones. did have bilateral cortesone injections into hips for throcantor bursitis one week before onset of right back flank pain. DX was lazy bladder and strain to right back flank muscle. the pain is unusual in that it does not hurt for long periods of time, then will suddenly be sharp and stabbing almost taking my breath away.

Hello Dear. I will tell you list of few conditions which can cause flank pain. They are

1. Kidney stones
2. Obstructive uropathy
3. Pyelonephritis
4. Chostochondritis
5. Polycystic kidney disease
6. Acute appendicitis
7. Bladder infection
8. Bladder cancer
9. Hydronephrosis
10. Renal cell cancer
11. Hypercalcemia


You need to undergo detailed evaluation. Ultrasound abdomen, CT Scan, urine analysis, urine culture, complete blood count etc.
