Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . The symptom you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as 'canker sore '. It could be because of enlargement of papillae of tongue mainly lingual papillae.

There can be many reasons like minor injury , stress (common ) , hormonal changes and hot , acidic food .

I would suggest you to :-

- Avoid hot and spicy food .

- Do warm saline rinses .

- Also do betadine rinses .

- Suck on ice cube and apply orabase gel before taking meal .

- Start taking supplement containing vitamin B12 and folic acid .

If condition doesn't start improving in a week then consult oral pathologist .

Doctor may examine physically or order blood test and prescribe steroid ointment , antibiotics (amoxicillin) or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
