What Causes Right-sided Shoulder And Upper Arm Pain?

Male, 59 years old, decent shape. Woke up in the middle of the night Monday of last week, shooting pain in my right shoulder, upper arm. (I had not lifted anything heavy at work, or around the house in the days prior) Next day I could not lift arm over my head without great pain. lasted throughout the week. Friday afternoon, pain became a dull ache, could lift arm. Friday evening, same symtoms in Left arm, which lasted through sunday, when both arms felt fine. Today(Thursday) dull ache in both shoulders and pain lifting both arms.

Hi,

Pain over both shoulders and arm up to the instance of inability to raise shoulder is likely to be related to cervical canal nerve cord compression issue most likely as unilateral causes are ruled out.

Need detailed physical examination with neurologist and MRI of the cervical spine after clinical need judgment. Till that time, heating pad application and assisted physiotherapy with analgesic tablets and spray are time being methods to improve the condition a bit more.
