My ears have been ringing for years- The other day I flew home and they have not popped , everything sounds kind of wierd, they seem to have pressure on them and the ringing is much more noticeable. Someone said if you have a cold or flu this is typical.- Yes I am getting over the flu- but it has been 3 days now and my ears are not any better.
Since you have history of ringing in the ears, it is indicative of either wax embedded which needs to be clinically examined & removed or it can be developing tinnitus. Tinnitus is caused commonly by blockage of the ear due to wax, ear infection, perforation (partial / complete), vitamin B12 deficiency resulting in demyelination of neurons, benign tumor of auditory nerve, etc.
Get clinically examined by an ENT, if it is wax it will be cleaned & washed in the clinic, it is a medical procedure. If it is not wax, you will be treated accordingly. Get audiometry test done to detect any hearing loss. You may have to get few other investigations done.
