What Causes Ringing In Ears?

Hi,

I went to the doctor a couple days ago because about a week ago my ears started bothering me. In my left ear i have having ringing and it is feeling plugged most of the time. But when the doc looked in my ear he said they looked really good. But i am still freaking out and i am worried that i might have cancer or something because i know that when you have cancer you can get ringing in your ears which is making me cry when i think about and i do not know if i am wrong but the doctor could see anything wrong but he said it could be dysfunction of the eustaichn tube and i should take showers drinks lots of fluid and take mucinex but when will this go away. I mean i have had ringing in my ears since 2008 from my depression pills but i am off them now but the ringing i have now a little more higher than before i mean i can hear fine. Please help i am so very worried

Hello
Thank you for trusting HCM

Are you male or female?? How old are you?? Are you diabetic? Or hypertensive??

Many causes for tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
The most common cause of tinnitus is damage and loss of the tiny sensory hair cells in the cochlea of the inner ear.

causes :

head and neck injuries, ear infections, a foreign object or earwax touching the eardrum, eustachian, tube (middle ear) problems, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, stiffening of the middle ear bones, traumatic brain injury, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes.

Consult your doctor you may need tympanometry, pure tone audiometry, imaging and some other investigations.
