What Causes Ringing In Right Ear?

I had a ringing in my right ear, now it is low in sound. But when everything is quite, I hear a kind of static. Not sure if it is coming from my ear or head. It's as if the silent is making noise. I am wondering if this can be coming from a cervical disc that is compressed, etc.? I have degenerative discs throughout my spine. I had three discs operated on eight years ago and wonder if more are narrowing and a nerve could be causing these ear problems or head problems. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that ringing in ear can occur due to causes like ear infection, perforated eardrum, excess ear wax accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Treatment of underlying cause will resolve the symptoms as Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but a sign of underlying disease..

You can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised..
White noise devices can be advised..
You can also be advised Neuromodulation..
Avoid exposure to very loud sounds and also avoid diving, swimming etc..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
