What Causes Ringing Sound In Head Along With Shortness Of Breath And Insomnia?

I m 51 - Was taken off of Zanax in fall 2012 suddenly. Plunged into menopause and adrenal exhaustion. Took too much Cipro and Flagl for diverticulitis. Had recovered somewhat. Have been on liothyronine for T3 and hormone cream of prog/test/Dhea daily and vaginal estrodiol 2x/wk for past year. I have a high pitched ringing in my head, weakness, shortness of breath, insomnia and heart irregularities. I m hungry and thirsty but feel worse when I eat. I can t afford to go and get tested for the wrong things. I am taking suppliments of magnesium, B, selenium, zink, D, and adrenal support. I drink coffee in am and some wine in pm. I eat fairly healthy, low meat and grains.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ringing sound in head along with shortness of breath and insomnia . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD symptoms , acute bronchitis , asthmatic condition , sleeping apnea or upper respiratory infection.

The symptoms can also occur due to sleep apnea or psychological problem like stress and anxiety . For now eat light at night , take benadryl twice a day and keep your head elevated while lying down.

Avoid intake of outside food. Avoid cold, carbonated beverages. I would suggest you to consult pulmonologist for proper examination. Doctor may order chest x-ray, blood test and check vitals along with vitals.

Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for upper respiratory tract infection , tinnitus or post nasal drip or allergy specialist for asthma. Doctor may also recommend CPAP machine after sleep study .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
