What Causes Rise In Blood Pressure?

Hi - I ve recently in the last 3 days seen an unusual spike in my BP. I m 41 and am experiencing very unusual work patterns during Ramadan where my sleep pattern has changed dramatically. The BP reading I just took shows a BP of 161/92 and I m very concerned as I ve never had issues with my BO

Hi welcome to HCM.
Elevated blood pressure can be secondary to fluctuations in the sympathetic tone.Drugs like beta blockers and ace inhibitors like ramipril will help to reduce the blood pressure to optimum levels.The goal is to keep it under 130/80 mm of hg.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6gm/day.Periodical monitoring of blood pressure is needed.Have a baseline ECG and a 2 dimensional echo to evaluate heart function.Avoid smoking and alcohol.Consult a cardiologist for further care.
