What Causes Rise In Blood Sugar Level Post Celestone And Lidocaine Shot?
I am 72 y/o...I have type 2 diabetes treated with oral meds - glipizide and metformin...dx d with prostate cancer about 1 1/2 years ago...had radiation therapy for 45 sessions ending last Dec 29...also get Lupron Depot injections every 3 months...last dose Sept 27, 2016...I understand the main side effects - chills, sweats, hot flashes etc, but recently developed shoulder pain, worse on left; also developed trigger fingers of L & R index fingers...index finger tx was by orthopod hand surgeon - injection Celestone & lidocaine - only on the worst finger...trigger finger resolved both hands...blood sugar spiked after the injection...back to normal range in about 3 days..,today had first of 2 shoulder injections - subacrimal...blood sugar spiked again over 200...exercise not bringing it down...any suggestions?
Prostatic cancer treatment should be continued. Usually, the sugar level should not increase after injection shots. but it may increase due to anxiety or stress. You should switch to injectable insulin instead of metformin and glipizide. Also, eat enough dietary fibre in the diet. Avoid eating sweets.
