What Causes Rotator Cuff Tendonitis Along With Swollen Lumps In The Muscles?
Hello, I have been diagnosed with rotator cuff tendonitis and have battled flare ups for the passt few years with this year being my worst. It seems to come more frequently no than ever before meaning every 3-5 months, and it will affect the opposite shoulder at times. As I am now getting over my latest flare up, I ve have noticed knots in my muscles as I massage them trying to help the soreness and pain go away. Are the knots in the muscles common with this? They feel like swollen lumps in the muscle tissue.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Rotator cuff tendonitis is caused by inflammation of tendons in rotator cuff. This inflammation is cause by repetitive activity of the shoulder like lifting the arm overhead, lifting heavy objects on one shoulder only. sleeping on one side only etc. The condition can recur if proper measures are not taken to control its. Treatment consists of avoiding all activities which aggravate the condition and using anti-inflammatory drugs. Cool packs can also be applied to relieve the pain and inflammation. However, appearance of lumps in muscle are likely to be associated with rotator tendinitis. I suggest you to consult your orthopedician for clinical assessment of the muscle lumps to find out the probable cause of muscle lumps.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
