What Causes Running Nose?

My son poked his ear with a qtip, 2 days later after swim class I noticed dark blood and water mix draining and partially dried. Went to dr and said she didn t see a hole but lots of blood behind the eardrum. She said that if I see more bleeding to see a ENT and just stay out of the water for a week. Now two days after seeing her my son has a runny nose. Just coincidence or should I take him in?

Q tip injury as specified may have caused trauma to the ear canal or may be the drum....KEEP EAR DRY... Do not instil any drops in ear untill prescribed by an ent. Meanwhile you can start with a nasal decongestant prep like sinarest. Yes taking advice of an ent is advisable...
