What Causes Saliva Secretion At The Corner Of The Lips?
I am a lady of 21 years. I discovered a change in my saliva when I was 14 years. My saliva is very very gluey and it is always appearing at the corners of my lips. It is so unpleasant and ugly to the extent that whenever I talk to people, they look at me with discomfort. Due to this, I hate being in public to avoid embarrassment. I thought maybe this could be a course of dehydration so I tried drinking 8 glasses of water everyday for about two months now but the situation is still the same. Please help me because I am so desperate.
It looks like saliva accumulating at the corner of lips that is gluey and thick can be most probably due to reduced watery content of saliva that is pointing towards dry mouth..
Also accumulation of saliva at the corners of mouth can be most probably due to causes like mouth breathing, reduced swallowing, mal-aligned teeth etc..
So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination can be done followed by an investigation of salivary glands ..
As of now chew sugarfree chewing gums and suck lemon drops to improve watery saliva secretion and keep the corners of the lips clean by gently wiping then on regular intervals..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
