my daughter is 27, in march she had an operation to excise some cysts, in her underarm. all was going well, until she had a reaction to some dressings. after daily dressing for around 5 weeks all was looking good. Since then she has had continual red rash under left arm (after the scars had healed). This has been treated with Flucloxacillin a few times, also canestan cream, then erythromycin. While all this is going on she has also had constant problems with both ears and the skin around the outside and inside of both ears. She was given a spray initially, then drops. Ears and underarms have been swabbed several times, Nothing showing up in the ear though still problem. Underarm last week was prescribed Daktarin, this has made the underarm scar blister and the red rash more angry. We went back to the doctor this morning, they said the swab from monday is not back yet, but the swab from 4wks ago showed staph aureus. So they have prescribed Flucloxacillin again, I asked is this ok as she has had this one several times now. Doctor said yes because infection is still there, he will wait for Mondays swab to come back before deciding anything else. What is your opinion on all of this and do you think a stronger antibiotic or maybe an antibiotic injection would serve better in my daughters case.
