Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My penis shaft has had a problem for about a month now where there are scabs in only two areas. They are near the tip but not touching. They are about a dime in diameter and have had so signs of subsiding until i applied daily heavy amounts of lotion. They then began to fade a lot and are nearly gone? any ideas? ( i had been masturbating frequently before problem so i thought it was friction burn or something like that) no sexual contact for about 2-3 weeks before this happened
My first possibility is surely that of a trauma-induced infection. Now to rule out herpes, I would like to know if you noticed the development of any fluid-filled blisters over the affected areas prior to the scabbing that you noticed.
Also since you have already been tested for herpes, I am sure the blood reports will be of help to us in confirmation of the diagnosis.
At present, the local cleaning of the affected area is very important. You need to clean the area with lukewarm saline water and apply a topical antibiotic cream like Neosporin or mupirocin over the affected areas twice a day.
This will help in controlling the local infection. I am sure it should heal with proper local antiseptic care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
