What Causes Scanty And Orange Colored Menstrual Bleeding?

i haven't had my period in 5 months after getting of the depo contraception needle, I got my period 2 days ago but it's been very light and today it was light orange in colour. I googled what it could mean but the results said it may be a sign of pregnancy. what does it really mean?

Hi,

First of all do not panic. To rule out pregnancy, I will suggest you to get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy. Secondly, I would like to say that after contraceptive injection shot, withdrawal bleeding is quite erratic. It can be scanty or heavy and it can be early or delayed. Orange bleeding can be due to delayed periods due to contraceptive injection shot.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar, OBGYN
