What Causes Scanty Menstrual Bleeding?

I just started my period this morning... was 2 days late which isn t very normal. Just passed a clear, long form of tissue and that s not happened before. I m 26 and sexually active. I ve had blood clots before but never clear in color.... what could this be?

The clear discharge you noted is likely to be mucus secretions from cervix and vagina. Another possibility is a very early miscarriage. The discharge could be pregnancy tissue along with uterine lining. If you do not develop the usual amount of bleeding, continue to have spotting or develop abdominal pain please be advised to follow up with our gynecologist to undergo pelvic USG and blood HCG measurements.
