What Causes Scarlet & Glandular Fever?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...In my late teens I suffered from scarlet fever and glandular fever in quite short succession of each other, I was quite ill with both of them. Now I'm in my late 20's and have finally been diagnosed with a hearing problem which my specialist thinks was probably caused by this. I've never thought about any long term side effects before, but I'm aware that whenever I get a cold or the flu I get really ill with them and it takes me a lot longer than most to recover whenever I'm ill with anything. Could this also be related to having these 2 fevers when I was younger? Or just a coincidence?

hi
welcome to HCM
I read your history n can understand your concern. scarlet fever is streptococcal bacterial infection and gandular fever is a viral flue. both the disease takes its own time to resolve, it depends on each individual immune system. and your hearing problem is not because of these two.but whenever u get cold, there wil be slight decrease in hearing because of E tube blockage. Dont worry. better meet ENT doctor.
thank you
take care
