Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAVE SOME SCARS ON MY LEG THAT ARE OVER 20 YEARS OLD. BEEN FINE NO PROBLEM. ABOUT 2YRS AGO I HAD SOME DEAD PEELING SKIN OVER THE SCAR, I LIGHTLY WASHED AWAY THE SCAR, WITH IN 5MIN I HAD A BLOOD BLISTER TAKING THE SHAPE OF THE SCAR. BLISTER POPS AND DRYS UP IN TO A SCAB BY ITS SELF, SEEMS TO HEAL COMPLETELY. THEN EVERY FEW MONTHS IT HAPENS AGAIN. EXCEPT NOW IT TAKE LONGER AND LONGER TO HEAL EACH TIME IT HAPPENS. WHAT IS THIS CALLED, WHATS IS CAUSE AND WHAT CAN I DUE ABOUT IT??? YES, I ASKED MY GP, ALL I GOT I DONT KNOW.
From your description it seems that this is psoriasis localised over the scars. The cause is related with some growth factors that are more expressed in those area than in normal skin. These factors affect the production of collagen. I would suggest you taking Tretinoin cream using at the affected area.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Julinda Maksuti, General Surgeon
