General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

I can understand your concern. However, scoliosis can be caused by a number of reasons, most of which are hereditary conditions causing softening of bones or ligaments. There are conditions like tuberculosis of the spine which may cause kyphosis or hunchback.

However, your granddaughter's back pain seems to be mechanical more than any pathological condition. Rest, proper posture and support and back strengthening exercises should be able to take care of the pain.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
