What Causes Seizures Upon Falling Asleep?

I often have seizures while falling asleep, during sleep, and waking from sleep, mostly while falling and waking from sleep. Symptoms include initial disorientation, sense of floating, tunnel vision, anxiety, then followed by profuse sweating for a couple of minutes, groggy/cloudy brain, exhaustion, and tiredness that may last of hours. These symptoms can also occur during the day during periods of low activity, such as laying on the couch or sitting and watching TV. The appear to occur several times over a week or so then end for a month or several months.

Hi,

For some people, seizures occur exclusively during sleep. This is especially true for a particular type of epilepsy, known as benign focal epilepsy of childhood, also known as Rolandic epilepsy.

Epilepsy patients are often unaware of the seizures that occur while they sleep. They may suffer for years, it can cause daytime fatigue and concentration problems without any realization.

For people with epilepsy, sleep problems are a double-edged sword; epilepsy disturbs sleep and sleep deprivation aggravates epilepsy. Until complete examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.

Need MRI brain and EEG. Please consult your neurophysician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
