What Causes Sensation In Joint At The Top Of Middle Finger?

i have been experiencing a sensation in the joint at the top of my middle finger, left hand. The sensation is not pain, and not tingling, but more of an itching/tickling sensation when a press the area. The area does look larger/more swollen than the same joint on my right hand where I am not having any issues.
