What Causes Sensing Unusual Smell And Night Sweats After Treating Allergic Rhinitis?

Have been smelling a chemical type smell for a few weeks, along with some sweating at night. Face feels warm and is slightly red, like a mild sunburn. Was treated for allergic rhinitis (Benadryl) with no improvement. Now have bags under eyes, very little clear drainage. Started cefnidir a few days ago but still no improvement. Eyes sort of watery, bags under each one, little clear drainage, pinkish face, and mild sweating at night. Temperature sometimes slightly raised, from 97.7 to 98.8. Both CBC and CMP were normal.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The sensing of unusual smell and night sweats after allergic rhinitis indicate residual viral infection or superimposed bacterial infection most likely. In my clinic, I do recommend a culture swab test of the discharge for best evaluation for the type of microbe responsible for the same along with drug sensitivity to cure it best possible way.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
