What Causes Sensitive Gums Along With White Patch On Roof Of Mouth?

Hi, I'm 20 years old and over the past week or two, I have noticed my gums becoming very sensitive and sore. Also the roof of my mouth is turning white. In addition, I've been getting cuts on my lips... I rarely smoke and onky drink on occasion. I have not done either, however, for at least a month, maybe two. Any idea as to what this could be??

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain sore and sensitive gums can be due to infection in gums causing inflammation which makes them sensitive and sore..
In case if the palate is turning white and if it is in the form of a patch it can be due to yeast infection known as thrush..
Other cause can be due to a condition Smoker's Palate in which due to irritation caused by cigarette smoke leading to hyperkeratosis but if you do not smoke it cannot be the cause..

Cuts on lips can be due to either dehydration or chapped lips due to excessive sun exposure..

Nothing to worry consult an oral physician and get evaluated and in case of infection in gums scaling followed by gum paint application and application of desensitizing tooth paste for relieving sensitivity can help..

For white patch on palate get evaluated for the cause and in case of thrush antifungal treatment like Nystatin mouthwash gargles and sucking Clotrimazole lozenges will help..

For chapped lips drink plenty of water.
Apply petroleum jelly or beeswax containing lip balms as it will lubricate the lips as well as lock moisture..
Always apply a broad spectrum SPF 15 containing lip balm or sunscreen lotion when going out into sun..
Prevent excessive sun exposure..
Do cold compresses over lips.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
