What Causes Sensitivity And Pain On The Scalp Behind Right Left Ear?

I have sensitivity of the scalp along the skull right behind my left ear, right above where my glasses sit over my ear. I cannot touch the area, or comb my hair because it causes a lot of pain. But if I leave it alone it just feels like it stings. My scalp looks real clean no red spots or rash . Where is this coming from?

Understanding your concern.

As per your query sensitivity and pain on the scalp behind right left ear is because of pinched or irritated nerve in the neck region i.e greater and lesser occipital nerve. There must be some pressure on this nerve due to any cause. This is treated with drugs such as Tegretol, Neuronotin.

Another possibility is temporal arteritis, an inflammatory condition that usually tenderness over the temporal regions of the scalp and is associated with headaches and eye sight problems.This condition is diagnosed by erythrocyte sedimentation rate and biopsy.

I would suggest you to see a neurologist, and have an MRI of the cervical spine, erythrocyte sedimentation rate done and start treatment as per diagnosis of condition.
