What Causes Sensitivity In The Skin On The Back And Both Sides Of The Body?

My back, lower back, on both sides feel like there is something irritating the inside of the skin, it s a bit sensitive. No rash, I don t think it s shingles. Again it s not that painful, however, feels a bit warm. A sinus type headache on and off as accompanied it. Thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Oversensitive skin that hurts, may show rash or spots is commonly due to excessive exposure to the sun(skin damage), skin allergy, eczema, skin allergy, Shingle or Psoriasis, etc.

You are suggested to see a dermatologist. If you are sexually active your dermatologist may suggest you to get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.

Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the infection detected. You may need antibiotic/antivirals.

At present avoid getting exposed to sun or harsh climatic conditions, always keep the skin moisturized. You can use hydrocortisone cream to relieve. Local application of Neosporin or soframycin is also effective.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
