What Causes Severe Abdominal And Back Pain While Treating Pancreatitis?

Hi. I have had pancreatitis twice since 1994, both times due to being perscibed Flagyl to treat Gardner Ella s . I take Zantac daily for nausea since the last time in 2002 , usually vomit at least once a month, have painful diarrhea several times daily. The diarrhea has been ongoing for about 5 years, withe hemmeroids causing all BMs to be bloody in the last 2 years. Recently started having extreme abdominal and back pain. Have no money to cover Dr expenses, as I am paying for my son s broken leg, ADHD meds, and psychiatrist (with insurance never meeting out of pocket deductible). Any suggestions on what I can do to ease pain until I can afford a scope? What type of scope would you recommend when I am able?

Hi,

Really sorry to hear about your problem. I think the problem looks to be related to the pancreas. Chronic pancreatitis can cause severe abdominal Pain with diarrhoea.

So in the context of the previous two episodes of pancreatitis, it looks more to be the pancreas rather.

We generally need to prescribe opioids for the pain of pancreatitis, but first, we need confirmation of it by doing a CT scan rather than endoscopy.

So you probably would need a scan and blood test. Management will be according to that then. Heat pad may also help the pain.
