What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps When Diagnosed With Ovarian Cysts And Uterine Fibroids?

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst, about 7cm long, and fibroids. I have heavy, long periods (about 10 days) and painful cramps, pressure in lower abdomen, feeling full all the time, and constipation. My doctor recommended I get a hysterectomy and i also think it s best for me as I don t plan on having any children. I m going through an appeal process with my insurance company because they denied it, claiming I didn t have enough symptoms. I m waiting for them to reach a decision after a closer review of my case but this there anything in the meantime that I can do to relieve the discomfort and pain? Any dietary changes I can make? I m also open to holistic healing also. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Presence of fibroids and complex ovarian cyst can have indirect effect on the intestines causing adhesions and intestinal obstruction.
Surely, once the insurance permits you get the surgery done.
In the meanwhile you can take hormonal treatment from a gynecologist to get control over heavy periods, worth trying.
Maintain your hemoglobin well so that you are well prepared in advance and anemia can itself cause heavy periods.
Take mild laxatives and diet known to you to give smooth stools.
Take small frequent meals so that the digestion is improved and you get lesser fullness.
