What Causes Severe Abdominal Discomfort Along With Elevated Vitamin D Levels?

I have a 12 year old daughter that has been experiencing chronic stomach discomfort - - worsens in the evening. It is in the stomach area usually (not usually in the bowel area but sometimes). She was tested for celiac and the bloodwork showed she was normal in all areas except she had an elevated vitamin D level. She doesn t seem to have an issue with dairy but does have an allergy to tree nuts. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that she may have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).

This causes symptoms that are worse in the evening or early morning.

Persons may not experience all of the symptoms that can occur.

You can consider a trial of reflux medication and change in diet to eliminate foods that worsen reflux to see if this helps.
Eg of reflux medication are prevacid, prilosec, nexium

Diet changes involve a decrease in spicy, acidic, fatty/fried foods.

I hope this helps
