What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain Leading To Breathing Difficulty?

Hello Doctor,Thanks for taking time to answer the question I post here. After marriage I have severe stomach/abdominal pain where I cannot even move. i just bend downwards holding my stomach-- even breathing becomes very difficult. I have one advil pill and it eases the pain in 20 mins... is it normal? I have come across this situation twice. First time i got scared and went to ER. They took some tests and provided a report stating everything is normal. But am confused here. Can you please help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. With your history of getting abdominal pain of such severity after marriage, I could think of either a resistant UTI (urinary tract infection) or a PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). If I were your doctor, I would advise you for a routine and microscopic test of urine followed by a culture and sensitivity test and treat it if positive. The PID could be diagnosed by a gynaecological examination and a vaginal swab culture and sensitivity test. Apart from this, a general abdominal examination along with an ultrasound of abdomen would be required to rule out any other intra abdominal pathology. Till then, I would advise you with an anti spasmodic along with a proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
