What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With Hernia?

I am a 31yo female and for the last year I have expected abdominal pain. Recently I had a colonoscopy that discovered a severely twisted bowel and a CT scan that found a hernia. I am now unable to eat or have a bowel movement without terrible pain. Should I seek emergency medical services?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that your severe abdominal pain is caused by acute intestinal obstruction. Hernia won't be causing pain that much untill and unless it is strangulated hernia. Have an USG done? it's better for you to contact ER.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
