What Causes Severe Acne On Face And Shoulders Post Spinal Surgery?
71 years old, had extensive spinal surgery nearly 8 months ago. I am allergic to opiate based medications. My Dr. has me on Tramadol/Acet, Warfarin and for the past few months I have developed severe acne on my face, shoulders and chest/back. At the time of the surgery I was given blood transfusions and I can t help but wonder. Can you possibly give me some ideas to bring forth to my Dr. as it is becoming most irritating and embarrassing. Thank you
You say that you are allergic to opiate medications. You should have informed this to your treating doctor. Tramadol that has been prescribed to you, it is a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. It may show side effects like rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing, etc.
You are suggested not to feel embarrassed but talk to your treating doctor, inform him about the medications to which you are allergic so that the medications can be replaced by other that suits you better and your discomfort can be eased.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
