What Causes Severe Anxiety And Anger While On Venlafaxine?
I have a prescription from my Primary care Physician for Venlafaxine 75mg qd. I have previously taken Cymbalta for 5 years but felt that I did not need to take this anymore. Under his supervision, I stopped about 2 months ago. I had also, under MD s advice to stop taking Premarin 0.3mg after many years. I am 77 y/o. Recently, was hospitalized for a Sepsis UTI and all of my medications were stopped and new ones added. I feel incredibly hyper, anxious and short tempered. However, I have found that there are hundreds of serious interactions with other meds and conditions such as Glaucoma. Should I be concerned?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
In my opinion, your worsening anxiety is due to change in anxiolytic drugs. With Venlafaxine, your anxiety is not controlled. So in my opinion, you should definitely consult good psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Start combination of anxiolytic drugs. Counselling sessions along with anxiolytic drugs show excellent results. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. And don't think too much about drug interactions and side effects like glaucoma.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
