What Causes Severe Anxiety And Burning Sensation In The Chest?
Hi There, I have pretty bad anxiety and have had a burning sensation inside my chest and stomach for the past two weeks. I am currently taking Effexor for the past month (.75mg) and Clonazepam for panic attacks... I had blood work done for ulcers, liver, blood clots exc. and everything came back normal. Is it possible for my anxiety to be causing a burning sensation inside my body? or is this something more serious? My blood pressure and vitals are perfect and I cant seem to figure out what is going on. Tums and Pepto don t help so I do not think it is heart burn.. Thank you for your time!
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your situation and problem. Possibility of stress and anxiety related GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is more in your case. Stress and anxiety are common risk factor for GERD. They cause laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause the symptoms of Central burning chest pain. So treatment of stress and anxiety should be done first. Better to consult psychiatrist and get done counseling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution. Along with drugs, counselling plays very important role in management of anxiety. So discuss your problem with good psychiatrist and start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
