Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter in law was recently diagnosed with a anxiety disorder. They gave her Prozac to take everyday in the morning. And when she has a attack to take larazipan after 10 mins. into the attack. The attacks are getting worse. At least one a day, mostly in the evening. She neglected to mention to the doctor that her father which she has not talked to in many years has cyrabral palsy. When she has these attacks she has a blank stare on her face and her arms and legs contract towards her torso and her eyes roll back in her head and then to the side. And at first onset of the attack she starts crying and has very shallow and fast breathing. She can not stand at this time. I am worried that this is more than a anxiety attack. What do u think.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
By the symptoms that you described during attack it looks like a epileptic attack. Does she looses consciousness; or passes urine or stool; or saliva drools; occurs when she is sleeping during the attack? If yes then she might have epileptic attack. She needs investigation like EEG which can rule out such possibility. Anxiety can occur post epileptic attack which is more of anticipatory types i.e, fear of having one more epileptic attack.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
