My mother (88 years old) has recently been fitted with a pacemaker due to a fall having suffered dizziness on May 30th. She has been on numerous heart related drugs for a year following a heart attack a year ago including warafarin (prior to her heart attack she was diagnosed with AF). She also has been taking for a number of years thyroid tablets. Apart from changing one of her heart tablets she has remained on the same ones post pacemaker op. Her condition since her fall and fitting of her pacemaker has deteriorated. She is suffering with back pain which may be related to her fall and complains of burning to her lower back and now burning in her feet. She finds it difficult to walk (using zimmer frame); she feels sick after her tablets in the morning, has no appetite, sleeps more than usual, can be confused, even stopped enjoying her tv programmes, goes to toilet a lot (not taking her water tablets) and despite not eating much and although suffer from constipation seems to occasionally have diarrhoea. I spoke to doctor last week and he told me she should just take paracetomol for back pain and she needs to get used to her new tablet......what can I do as not convinced medication correct for her and back is becoming as issue as I fear for her safety as she lives on her own which is something not considered when releasing her from hospital.
