What Causes Severe Backache After An Injury?

fell down the stairs yesterday - slate ones so very solid. hit my middle back and am now in serious pain. even breathing hurts. Can move my arms and legs and walk around but it is really painful.Dull throbbing pain and when I move it is sharp. Really don t want to worry A&E - it s miles away and I live on my own.How long should I leave it before I panic if the pain doesn t go away?

Hello,
You need to go to A&E now. The sharp pains with movement could mean that you have broken one of the spinal bones. If they shift it could damage your spinal cord resulting in paralysis. Go to A & E now.
