My 80 year old father is having extreme back pain, but won t tell his doc because he doesn t like how pain meds make him feel. I was wondering if pain patches would have the same effect, or if I should recommend that he talk to his doctor about that option.
The symptoms are more consistent with spine related problems like disc prolapse or arthritis. As a first line management you can try analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms persists it is better to consult an orthopedics and plan for an MRI scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
