What Causes Severe Bleeding After Stopping Depo Shot?

I was on the depo shot for about 9 months the whole time I was bleeding off and on I quit the shot about a month ago, ever since then I have been bleeding a lot more and heavier and today I thought I had to urinate and before I could go a huge thing of blood fell out? Is this normal?

Depot preparation have less possibility to cause heavy periods although it is possible that it remained there unnoticed due to use of depot contraceptives. I mean to say that hormones used in depo injection are same which are used to treat heavy periods and this could have obscured the problem for a while.
