What Causes Severe Bleeding During Periods And Abdomen Pain?

Hey Doc, my mom is 48 years old and has excessive bleeding after her period and she says she has alot of pain in her abdomen. Her doctor suggested taking birth control pills 3 weeks ago and she has but it hasnt stopped and now she's also taking advil. Do you know what the problem might be?
