What Causes Severe Bleeding During Periods?

I recently I had my menstrual cycle and there was so much blood it was like just gushing out really bad and im currently under radiation for a brain tumor,what could have caused it,it put me in the hospital because i was going through so many pads changing them about every hour and even having to double them,my blood pressure was so so low
