HI.. I am Asha and I am 29yrs old and I am RA+ve. I am taking Methaxetrate - 1tab per week since 1year and I had got my copper-T done last yr due to which I am having severe bleeding for 10 days and I am spotting premenstrual as well as post menstrual. My gynae suggested me to take Deviry-10mg 2tabs per day for 10 days... Please let me know whether the prescription is fine and also is there any side effects from this for my problem.

Hello,
If you have been having excessive bleeding ever since you had the IUD inserted, it is advisable to get the device removed. The IUD tends to cause severe bleeding disturbances in some as the device acts as an irritant and also causes local reaction. Progesterone helps to control bleeding caused by hormones and if that is not the case, it may not help. Please ask your consultant if the IUD can be removed; you may need an MRI of the pelvis to look for the position of the device. Hope this helps.
