I have chronic gastric problem for a long time. Of late, I get excessive gas / burping and bloating of the upper tummy. I had done my ultrasound of the abdomen of which result a were ok. Why is it that I get the bloating so often, should I go for an endroscopy?
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. Bloating can be caused by the gases produced when we eat or drink and it can lead to visibly swollen stomach, discomfort or even pain. You can try the following measures initially:- 1.Drink plenty of water (2-3 liters per day) or herbal tea. 2.Cut out soft drinks and all carbonated beverages. 3.Limit your alcohol and caffeine intake. 4.Add fibre to your diet. It helps prevent constipation and limit bloating. 5.Antacids like ranitidine or omeprazole can be tried to reduce acid production. If symptoms persist despite all these, consult a gastroenterologist and go for additional investigations including endoscopy. Thanks
