What Causes Severe Bruising Around The Ankle After An Injury?

Hello, my husband fell off a 6 foot ladder trimming trees 5 days ago. After a lot of convincing he went to an urgent care. They took xrays of his ankle and shin. The ankle is badly bruised and the shin has a 3 in cut. They determined no break or fracture, did not receive stitches, but it is still badly bruised, going into the toes and the cut is still bleeding. He uses 2 band aids a day. He was given and antibiotic and tentis shot. He works on his feet 8 hrs and hard to bear weight at the end of the day

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to injury.

For further assessment you may require X Ray after orthopedician consultation to rule out any other possibilities for fracture.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Apply thrombophob locally.

Use ankle cap.

Use support while walking.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
