What Causes Severe Burning Sensation In Upper Abdomen?

I feel an Intense/severe burning sensation in my upper abdominal. It seems to originate just under the sternum. To calm the burning sensation I need to sit straight and after a while the burning sensation seems to get under control but still feel it if a bend or eat.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Your symptoms suggest you could be having acute gastritis. I advice you to avoid smoking, drinks, spicy foods. Take antacid for few days .if the symptoms doesn't subside or if it increases you may require endoscopy to rule out gastric or duodenal ulcer.

Thank you,
Take care
