What Causes Severe Calf Pain?

Hi I suffer from a stabbing pain in left leg calf . It happens from time to time. After cold or some exercise. It happens also after pressing the calf under the body weight during sleep. It continues for periods of 3 to 15 minutes. It feels like a cut being made with a scalpel one cm under the surface of left leg calf. It always happen in the left leg, never in the right one.
