What Causes Severe Chest And Shoulder Pain Post A Left Ovarian Cystectomy?

I had my right ovary removed 4 days ago, due to a very bad ovarian torsion, caused by a 7.3 cm cyst. I ve been experiencing shoulder/chest pain due to gases, stomach pain that comes and goes, and I ve been alternating between Advil and Tylenol every four hours. The pain has slightly decreased, but I m suddenly feeling sharp, sudden pain on my lower right abdomen. I haven t been exercising or doing any activities, except for walking and maybe picking up certain things from the ground as carefully as I can. When I press on the right side, it just feels bloated and hurtful to touch. What is the reason for this?

Hi,

First thing on 4th-day postoperative... you should not bend down (it would give stretch on the stitches yet to heal.).

Eat light & nourishing food... easy to digest. The antibiotics taken during surgery are likely to destroy Lactobacilli... which help normal digestive process & prevent infection. Also, oral medications when taken on empty stomach increase acidity & bloating.

In such conditions, I would advise taking an antacid like gelusil MPs/digestive enzyme preparation like vitazyme after food & supplement lactobacilli to encourage normal intestinal flora. All of these needs to be followed in consultation with your treating doctor.
