Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Chest Congestion And Cough Along With Wheezing?
Since November I have been coughing up (1-3x a week) a thin, white (worm shaped) thing. It s very stringy and rubbery. Comes out in a ball and in my hand I can straighten it out. I always have lots of wheezing leading up to it. Some nights I am silent, other nights my chest sounds like Rice Krispies. I ve seen a doctor and they did x-rays and said there s nothing. It s clearly not nothing. I also have had LOTS of mucus come up for years, especially in the morning. White and foamy, then clearish. Once it s out, it s typically out for the day. These new white things have me concerned. She seem fleshy somehow.
Asthma, COPD & Bronchitis can cause wheezing and thick mucus coming out during early morning hours and when out its out for the day. Has you doctor seen the white thing that you can straighten it up-as it sounds like a worm infestation- as Parasitic Infections with, Ascariasis, Nematodes, Stercoralis, etc also can cause the above symptoms... you better get a Pulmonary Function Test, Complete Blood Count along with Absolute Eosinophil Count, Sputum Examination, Stool to Rule out Cysts and Ova's.
