What Causes Severe Cold Feet?

My feet get extremely cold at times. I am sure circulation is not the problem as there is always a good, solid pulse and no discoloration. Sometimes there is extreme burning associated with it. My pain mgmt MD is suggesting he add colon dim, clonoquin (sic) to the dilaudid I presently have going through my intrathecal pump. Any ideas on what this drug is and possible side effects for it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Severe cold feet can be due to undue anxiety or stress, cold weather, developing hypothyroidism, anemia, nerve disorders or diabetis mellitus.

Take food rich in iron & calcium content( banana, capsicum, green leafy veggies, milk, dairy products). Take vitamin B12, B6 along with folic acid & minerals, once daily as a supplement.

Visit ER, get a medical health check up done. Get nerve function tests done to rule out peripheral artery disease(PAD), maintain sugar levels if you are a diabetic. First get investigated & diagnosed before being treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
