What Causes Severe Constipation Along With Nausea And Gastritis?

Lately I have been expiriencing constipation. Increase in abdominal girth (while trying to lose weight ), occasional mild nausea, gasiness and a full feeling in my ribs. I will have a pelvic US soon and hopefully be able to see my gastro doc soon. They have changed my appointment 3x since I first called. I have GERD which is under reasonable control. I had 18 of small bowel removed many years ago but have a long colon which sets me up for constipation but I have been able to control it fairly well until recently. I have begun taking a stool softener daily which has helped some. I am getting more uncomfortable earlier in the day.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of severe constipation along with nausea and gastritis. There can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like eating a lot of dairy products, lack of fibres in diet, irritable bowel syndrome, some medications like antidepressants, and acidity.Need not to worry. For now drink lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement psyllium, calcium polycarbophil , osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity . surgery for rectocele.
